Volunteering

Operation of the Shelter is the work of many volunteers who befriend and look after our guests in the evenings, overnight* and in the mornings, including the provision of a nourishing evening meal.

2021-2 Update: The SIP have discussed the Night Shelter with the Council and agreed that, regardless of any restrictions that may or may not be in place it would not be appropriate to run a *dormitory style Night Shelter this winter. So the Council will try to house homeless folk in B&Bs as they did last winter. However, what we could do is to open up our churches on weekday evenings and weekend lunchtimes to provide homeless folk with a hot meal, a warm dry place to relax for a couple of hours, a place to watch videos and a chance to get professional advice.

The Camrose Centre already opens on Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays (and possibly Sundays), so we would only need to open Mondays, Wednesdays Saturday (lunchtimes) and, possibly Sunday (lunchtimes).

If you would like to be involved in providing this service, join us for a meeting at the Sarum Hill Centre on Thursday 16th September at 7.30pm
